Dharma Life 2001-2003

Overview

They say that the 21st century is a century of peace...then who better to lead the world into the future than followers of Dharmic faiths.

Starting from this October 2001, we will be focusing on the applications of our Dharmic principles to different aspects of our lives. The schedule which has been chosen is as follows:

Oct 2001: Dharma and Self Health
Nov 2001: Dharma and Seva & Humanitarianism
Dec 2001: Dharma and Global Village, World Peace, & Human Rights
Jan 2001: Dharma and Science
Feb 2002: Dharma and Religion
March 2002: Dharma and Society, Family, Women, & Youth
April 2002: Dharma and the Environment
May 2002: Dharma and Government & Politics
June 2002: Dharma and Economics & Management
July 2002: Dharma and Everyday Life

We will encourage all other Dharmic religions to get involved, i.e. Buddhist, Sikh, Jain. We will be contacting national organizations that are dedicated to each of these areas, i.e. environmental, seva, political, etc., and explaining how Dharma applies to their area. More specifically, each month there will be activities planned to illustrate the theme for that month. For example, during the month of April, each chapter can participate by performing one of four or five activities to illustrate our Dharma to the environment. There will be many activities, discussions, seminars, etc. that are going to be planned. This should definitely be an exciting, yet busy, year for HSC.

We need all HSC members to take an active role in making this ambitious project a reality.

There are four main ways to get involved:

1) Participate in the seminars, email discussions, and activities planned for each of the monthly themes. Encourage your chapter to plan activities and discussions around the monthly themes.

3) You can also participate in the planning as an individual. In addition to the chapter-based committees that will plan the monthly themes, HSC also needs volunteers for an overall infrastructure committee. This committee will facilitate all of the dharma activities. Some duties of this committee include promoting the event, contacting other national organizations, supplying press releases to the local chapters, and enabling all of the necessary communication. This national infrastructure committee has already been hard at work for nearly two months now, but it's not too late to join.

4) If you has some artistic skills, and would like to contribute to this project, you can help by designing a logo and other designs that will be used in press releases, posters, and t-shirts across the country.

Please Contact Us:
